Speaking of ratings ploys, WWE were seemingly desperate in September, 2002. Over on SmackDown, a phoney gay wedding between Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo was countered on Raw by Eric Bischoff's call for 'Hot Lesbian Action' on the Monday night flagship. All was not as it seemed.

HLA turned out to be a misnomer, because all fans were 'treated to' was some light flirtation and a little kissing before a pair of Samoans stormed the ring to beat up women. That was nothing compared to how embarrassing Bischoff licking his lips and encouraging fans to chant for HLA had been earlier in the show.

3 Minute Warning attacking some models was hardly groundbreaking television, nor was it particularly entertaining. All HLA achieved was making some fans ashamed to watch WWE programming. Try explaining to your mother why you want to stay up late for some 'Hot Lesbian Action', and watch her face drop.
