4. Matt Hardy Vows Revenge On Edge (2005)

Oh, and then there was this one. WWE's clumsy treatment of Matt Hardy in 2005 (Matt was fired after being outspoken about Lita and Edge hooking up behind his back, only to be rehired when a storyline could be made out of it) was hard to stomach. That doesn't mean the situation wasn't intense and super-emotional.

Vowing revenge on the man who had wrecked his love life, Hardy entered SummerSlam 2005 for perhaps the most real wrestling match in the pay-per-view's history. There was no way these guys, professional or not, were going to hold back on punches and kicks; the match was clearly worked, but it's obvious when watching the fight that both guys were happy to dish out some stiff shots.

The Edge win was a low point in a story that probably should have been reconsidered in the first place, but the atmosphere was incredible when Hardy peppered his hated rival with punch after punch during the opening seconds. If only he'd won, because the feud didn't need a second match.
