10 Most Exciting Run-ins In WWE History
7. Goldberg (No Way Out 2004)
Remember what I said earlier about fans being willing to overlook shenanigans as long as it benefited the good guy? Well here we have another example of that exception to the rule, from the WWE Championship match at No Way Out 2004.
Brock Lesnar, the champion, was defending against Eddie Guerrero, who had reached the absolute pinnacle of popularity thanks to his much-loved “Lie, Cheat and Steal” shtick.
So I doubt there was anyone complaining in the building when Goldberg appeared from out of nowhere and nearly knocked Lesnar out of his boots with a monster Spear to the Champ. Except, of course, for Lesnar himself - he was probably a little upset about it.
Crucially, the interference didn’t tarnish Eddie’s win at all, as he still went on to pull out a brilliant reversal of an F5 and capitalise with the Frog Splash to deservedly capture his maiden WWE Championship.
For the feel-good moments this one produced, both at No Way Out and the subsequent WrestleMania XX show, it’s almost impossible not to remember this run-in fondly.
