Our earliest entry to feature on this list comes from the Badd Blood: In Your House pay-per-view from 1997, and it’s notable for a number of reasons.

Not only did this run-in come during a predictably awesome contest between Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker, but it was also the first-ever Hell in a Cell match, and to top it all off it also marked the long-awaited WWE debut of Kane. And what a debut it was.

Mid-match, with the Undertaker looking to finish the match off, the arena was plunged into darkness. An ominous overture would then fill the airwaves before Kane appeared, flanked by Paul Bearer, amidst an eruption of fire on the entrance way.

“That’s gotta be Kane!” cried Vince McMahon on commentary, as the behemoth ripped the Cell door from its hinges, stood face-to-face with his long-lost brother before another massive eruption of flames preceded a tombstone to the Deadman.

As far as emphatic introductions go, they don’t get much better than this one. Plus, the fact that this match still got a five-star rating from Dave Meltzer suggests that run-ins aren’t necessarily the worst thing in the grand old scheme of things.
