6. Who Is Going To Kick Out Of The One-Winged Angel?

Cody Young Bucks

Only Kota Ibushi has kicked out of Kenny Omega's One-Winged Angel. With the exception of PAC's Black Arrow, which is less romanticised and important, it is the most protected finish in major league wrestling.

For the longest time, it was thought Hangman Page would be the first person to kick out of the move in AEW (and indeed since 2012). It acted as the perfect symbol of Page's growing self-belief. He didn't have to beat Omega in the same match; because Omega has protected it and his character with such conviction, a big-drawing PPV sequel could have been sold on the basis of how close Page was to toppling the wrestling God. The near-fall would have been electrifying.

It didn't happen. Clearly, Omega is saving it - but for whom?

It's possible that he hasn't even selected the performer to receive the highest honour that isn't winning a title. This is especially true if he did in fact tell eight tenths of the locker room that they're useless.

He's locked in a programme with Will Ospreay premised on him being the successor to his throne as the Best Bout Machine, and Ospreay's use of the OWA is a key beat of the story - is that where we are headed?
