5. Becky Lynch

It was a brave call turning Becky Lynch heel, but so far so very good.

The Man made her highly anticipated return at SummerSlam this year, and promptly squashed Bianca Belair to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Since then, she has persistently made Belair look foolish and left her lying in the ring.

One of WWE’s hottest (if not the hottest) properties in recent years, Lynch has been one of the strongest booked wrestlers in the company for quite some time now. Maintaining her run took precedence over pulling the trigger on the likes of Shayna Baszler, and even momentous occasions like Steve Austin appearances had to somehow fit Lynch into the segments.

The biggest testament to her untouchable status was the fact that, despite turning heel, she’s been allowed to hold dominance over her physically superior foe in Belair. Usually, a heel turn sees people turn into snivelling cowards who end up running away from the faces night in and night out. Lynch's importance to the company meant they had to make an exception for her.

Even when WWE had to find a way out without having either Becky or Bianca lose at this month's Extreme Rules PPV, they chose to go with an external interference instead of Becky taking the cheap route.
