The show was revamped and gave NXT alumni one more shot at the big time. Redemption consisted six rookies chosen from all previous non-Diva seasons returning to compete for a spot in the sixth season of NXT alongside a WWE Superstar of their choice who acted as their pro for the season. The former NXT superstars that returned were: Derrick Bateman, Darren Young, Titus O'Neil, Connor O'Brien, Lucky Cannon, Byron Saxton and Jacob Novak. The immunity points system was replaced with a Redemption points system where the person with the most redemption points would avoid elimination if there was a tie at the bottom after the fans/pros vote. Redemption also featured lower card RAW and SmackDown superstars. The likes of Yoshi Tatsu, Trent Baretta, The Usos, Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins, as well as former NXT contestants Percy Watson, Kaitlyn and Johnny Curtis all took part. Bateman ended up being the last official winner of NXT in that gameshow-like format.
