10 Most Memorable WWE Raw Moments From 1995

1. Shawn Michaels Collapses

Date: November 20th Not long before this match took place, Shawn Michaels was involved in an incident at a Syracuse, New York club. There are varying versions of the story, but the gist of it is that Michaels angered a group of men, who then jumped him and beat him badly enough that he needed to go to the hospital. This was a seemingly normal match, with nothing special taking place. Then, Owen Hart landed an Enzuigiri. Not long after, after Michaels got back on offense, he grabbed his head, staggered a bit, and collapsed. He wasn't moving at all. It took a few seconds, but fans went from thinking he was selling something to becoming legitimately concerned for his health. Owen looked concerned at ringside, as did his two managers, Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette. The show cut to commercial, and when it came back from break, Vince McMahon was in the ring, watching over everything as EMTs and WWF officials tended to Shawn in the ring. Cameras cut to several people in the crowd who were crying and looking very scared for Michaels. It would all lead to a "he might have to retire because of his serious concussion" storyline, but he would return at the Royal Rumble, winning it and going on to have the biggest year of his career to-date. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mizg0Y3I95c The entire "realness" of his collapse, and the questions and concerns about his health, made this one of Raw's most memorable moments of any year. People were wondering if they had just witnessed someone die in the ring, or at the very least, had his career ended in an instant. The fact that it was one of the most popular performers in the company only amplified things that much more.
