7. WWE Abolished His Push Due To Ballooning Weight

Story: Joining the then-WWF in 1999, Paul Wight was quickly renamed The Big Show, and it seemed likely that he'd play a massive part in major storylines going forward. Boasting seriously impressive athleticism for a big man (Wight had performed moonsaults and dropkicks as The Giant in WCW), it seemed the world was the guy's oyster. Vince McMahon famously announced that WCW didn't know how to book a man the size of Wight properly, something he would rectify in the WWF, due to his experience with Andre The Giant and other gargantuan men. Before long, The Big Show started to noticeably gain weight around his mid-rift and face, losing muscle definition and even having his weight-gain being mentioned on WWF TV. Unhappy at their new monster not taking care of his body, the WWF made the decision to demote The Big Show out of the main event scene. Why People Believe It: It's clear for anyone to see that The Big Show wasn't taking care of his most prized asset, his body, and he quickly went from being a hulking beast in February, 1999 to being a pretty out of shape giant less than one year later. Should We Believe It: Yes, this one is fairly common knowledge amongst wrestling fans of the time. The Big Show was taken off television and ordered to start shipping the pounds. Posted to Ohio Valley Wrestling, then the WWF's developmental league, the man was even demoted to the Hardcore Title scene when he returned in early-2001.
