Many scoffed at Randy Orton's #2 placing in the 2014 edition of the PWI 500, but he did play a crucial part in the hottest story of the year - Daniel Bryan's eventual triumph over adversity. The dubious nature of that ranking pales in comparison to this "downgrade". Orton has lacked direction and focus since splitting from The Authority in October 2014. Although he gives any PPV card an added sheen through name value alone, the actual achievements of the Viper over the past 12 months have been very overwhelming - and not at all deserving of a top 10 spot. He took a few months out to film 'The Condemned 2', before returning to feud with Rollins - a confusing, directionless rivalry. After Seth won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, Orton meandered for a few months until finding a new rival in the form of Sheamus. It's all pretty underwhelming fare for Randy, especially when compared to some of the wrestlers ranked just below him - such as former ROH Champion Jay Briscoe and electrifying NXT graduate Kevin Owens.
