10 Most Pointless WWE Returns
3. The Great Khali
If Khali fancies making a five-minute WWE cameo, you can't really say no - partly because he's a seven-foot tall monster, and partly because he has a pretty significant celebrity profile, and can therefore generate a bit of mainstream buzz.
No complaints there, but this wasn't just a walk-on role. In fact, Khali played the decisive part at July's Battleground, coming to the ring to block Randy Orton's ascent up the Punjabi Prison. This, in turn, would allow Jinder Mahal to escape the structure and retain his WWE Title.
Things seemed to be setting up for Khali to take a spot Jinder's burgeoning stable alongside the Singh Brothers - but he didn't appear on the following SmackDown 48 hours later. Or the next one. Or the next one. Or the next one.
Pretty soon, it became clear that this was a one-night only deal, and the former World Heavyweight Champion's superstar profile was abruptly removed from the WWE website shortly thereafter. He came, he saw, he stole the champ's limelight, then he left.
