10 Most Polarizing Wrestlers Working Today

6. Mercedes Moné

WWE Royal Rumble 2025 Triple H Jey Uso Charlotte Flair
AEW

When the former Sasha Banks arrived in AEW to thunderous acclaim, it looked like she was set to become one of the promotion's biggest heroes. Fast forward a year later, and Moné is a midcard champion firmly entrenched in the dark side of the force.

It's not hard to see how Mercedes has found herself in her current position. AEW didn't do her any favours by almost immediately booking Moné against the wildly popular Willow Nightingale, and Mercedes herself didn't help when she pulled a Saraya and started acting like AEW fans should be grateful she deigned to grace them with her presence.

To be clear, Mercedes is a world class talent. As Sasha Banks in WWE, she put on a litany of classic matches against some of the biggest names in the business, from her revolutionary match against Bayley in NXT to her historic WrestleMania main event against Bianca Belair. If Mercedes has an ego, it's one that's well earned.

Unfortunately, many fans have found Moné's attitude to be abrasive and off-putting, resulting in her being booed so relentlessly that perennial heel Britt Baker became the de facto face in their rivalry (a rivalry that gave Moné's haters further ammunition when the subsequent match stank out the joint).

Mercedes will go down as a revolutionary talent when all is said and done, but, like most revolutionaries, she's picked up a fair few detractors along her journey.
