There's an old superstition in wrestling that the man who loses a go-home match will go on to win at the subsequent PPV. This main event from October 2009 puts that theory firmly to rest.

A blockbuster SmackDown main event saw a justice league of babyfaces (Undertaker, John Cena, Triple H and Shawn Michaels) take on Randy Orton's Legacy faction. CM Punk's there too, although I'm not sure if he warrants a mention, given the fact he spends most of the match running from Undertaker.

The faces eventually stand tall, Orton eating the pinfall after a Tombstone Piledriver. Just a few days later, at Hell In A Cell, they'd stand tall again; DX beat Legacy in a Hell in a Cell tag main event, while Undertaker unceremoniously ended Punk's World Heavyweight Championship reign in the opening match.

Then again, perhaps there is something to that infamous unwritten rule. The Viper, having eaten the pinfall in this match, would go on to defeat John Cena and become the new WWE Champion. Hmmmm....
