10 Most Shocking Double-Crossings In WWE History
8. Randy Savage Turns On Hulk Hogan
Looking back at this one, we have ourselves a bit of an odd
situation.
Randy Savage is the one blamed for the implosion of the Mega Powers, but Hulk Hogan had been the one sniffing around Savage’s wife, even walking out on a tag team match to escort Miss Elizabeth to the backstage area in order for her to receive treatment.
Admittedly I may be twisting the story a little here, or at least withholding some of the details. In actuality, Elizabeth had been inadvertently knocked over by Savage during the Mega Powers’ match against Akeem and Big Boss Man at the Main Event II show on Feb. 3 1989. Hogan, on the basis of doing the honourable thing, had sought help for Elizabeth by taking her backstage to the treatment room and out of the way of harm at ringside.
You can see why that rubbed Savage the wrong way though. Then again, he may have taken things a little far when he flipped out backstage, and cracked Hogan in the back of the head with the WWF Championship belt.
Regardless of who was in the wrong, not to mention the fact that some of this may have been based on an element of truth, that blow with the belt was enough to signal that Savage had turned his back on the Mega Powers, and in doing so double-crossed the Hulkster.
