The events of the 1997 Survivor Series became known as the 'Montreal Screwjob'. It became the most controversial incidents in WWF/WWE history, one that's still commonly discussed today. It also provided the crux of a 2010 bout between Bret Hart and Vince McMahon at WrestleMania XXVI.

Fans didn't really know what to expect heading into the show, because it was well-known that Hart, due to his health, couldn't take any bumps. Therefore, the decision was made to have the Canadian cream his boss, battering him senseless with punches, kicks and stiff steel chair shots.

At first, fans cheered, but then the whole situation just became uncomfortable to watch. Outnumbered by the rest of the Hart clan cheering on Bret from ringside, Vince looked helpless. Had such a beating happened just weeks after November 9, 1997, the reaction would have been huge.

By 2010 however, Bret was no longer a pro wrestler. It was pretty depressing to see him stumble around the ring and beat his elderly opponent mercilessly.
