10 Most Successful NXT Call-ups
1. Roman Reigns
With just three appearances on NXT television prior to his main roster call-up, Roman Reigns was hardly a regular in developmental, but those three appearances mean that technically speaking he is indeed an NXT graduate. And based on his achievements—on paper, at least—he’s been by far and away the most successful of all those to make the step up.
Since bursting onto the scene in November 2012, he’s won three world titles, United States and tag team gold, as well as the 2015 Royal Rumble match and, perhaps most impressively, he’s featured in three successive WrestleMania main events.
And then there are all the more nuanced records that he’s broken along the way, including his four eliminations in a single Survivor Series match and his dozen eliminations in a single Royal Rumble. The only blemish has been the minor fact that vast swathes of the audience still simply can’t stand him. But even so, that hasn’t deterred the company from doing everything in its power to position and push him as the absolute number one guy.
Love him or hate him, given all the accolades he’s managed to rack up, it’s difficult to look beyond Reigns as the most successful NXT graduate the company’s produced.
Emphasis on the “company’s produced” part…
