10 Most Underrated WWE SummerSlam Matches Of All Time
2. Greenwich Street Fight: Test vs. Shane McMahon - 1999
This match was a street fight with a "Love Her or Leave Her" stipulation on it because Test was dating Stephanie McMahon, who at that point was still a new performer. They did a story where Test had an interest in her, but Shane wasn't happy about it and it led to this match. Shane wasn't known as a regular wrestler. His first match was earlier in 1999 at WrestleMania 15 against X-Pac. Heading into this one we didn't know what kind of match we would get due to Shane's inexperience, but just like he did in that X-Pac match, Shane impressed everybody. He had his buddies in the Mean Street Posse at ringside while Test had the surprising support of "The Stooges" known as Pat Patterson & Gerald Brisco. There was a huge reaction when they showed up to take care of the Posse. They had a wild brawl that included glass from a painting getting smashed over Test's head. Later in the match, Test was set up on the announce table and Shane destroyed him with an elbow drop off the top rope through the announce table. That spot wasn't done very often back then. It was one of the first times it ever happened So impressive especially for a non-wrestler like Shane. Test ended up getting the win and when it was over he got to celebrate with Stephanie. The crowd popped when they hugged in the ring. The best way to describe the match is to say that it was a lot of fun. It wasn't hurt by all the interference. It was all part of a storyline that was very entertaining to watch.
