10 Most Underrated WWE SummerSlam Matches Of All Time

3. I Quit: Ric Flair vs. Mick Foley - 2006

It was a match between two guys with different wrestling styles, but they had built it up well to where they had to settle it in an I Quit Match at SummerSlam 2006. It was at a point in Foley's career where he had a heel run and he also became friends with Melina, who was a heel manager. Flair was in the babyface role. He was in his late 50s at this point. A big reason why they feuded was that they didn't seem to respect each other. Foley complained about Flair in his book, so Flair ripped on Foley for not being a real wrestler because he used weapons in his match a lot of the time. It was a bloody brawl with weapons like a lot of Foley's matches in 2006. The fans ate it up because we weren't used to seeing Flair in a match like this. When Foley slammed Flair into dozens of thumbtacks everybody in the arena gasped because we had never seen Flair with tacks stuck into his back. They actually had one of the shorter "I Quit" matches that you're going to see because it went 13 minutes. Usually those matches go at least 20 minutes. It was smart to go that long because Flair was older and Foley was just a part timer at that point in his career. Flair ended up winning after several low blow and weapon shots as well a big shot with a barb wire baseball bat that sent Foley crashing back first on the floor. What a crazy bump. For the finish, Flair had dominated Foley and was using the barb wire bat as a weapon. Melina threw the towel in for Foley. That didn't end it officially since Foley didn't quit, so Flair threatened to hit Melina and Foley ended up quitting. It was a wild brawl that was underrated in terms of how entertaining it really was.
