10 Must-See Lucha Underground Season 3 Matches

The promotion might be dead and gone, but at least it left us these magic moments.

Season three of Lucha Underground is in the books, and Season four's future seems dodgy at best.

If Season three proves to be the last hurrah of this small lunatic promotion, then at least they went out in ambitious, ridiculous fashion, as only Lucha Underground could.

But Season three wasn't just about magic gauntlets, Lorenzo Lamas, secret cops, and Sexy Star's horrendous title reign. It was also about lucha libre action worthy of the "holy sh*t" chants so easily proffered these days. It was about enriching the backstories of characters like Son of Havoc, Killshot, Drago, and more, while still letting their in-ring work shine. It was about weird long-running plot lines that faded in and out of relevance like Global Force Wrestling. It was about melding personal storylines with hardcore matches that kept you interested.

Season three was, undoubtedly, the Lucha Underground-iest season of the show yet.

And it delivered some of the best matches in the show's history. With a stacked roster full of squared-circle vets from all over North America, you expect good. But some of these matches were freaking great, and more than half of them came in the second half of this super-sized season.

10. Fatal Four-Way (Battle Of The Bulls Tournament)

Multi-man matches are hit or miss in Lucha Underground, as they often ascribe to the formula of two men in the ring while everyone else sells. But the finale of the Battle of the Bulls Tournament was a whirlwind of glorious violence and chaos.

Jeremiah Crane, PJ Black, and Cage all put in strong performances here, but this was The Mack's night to shine. Taking advantage of all the hard-hitting fisticuffs, Mack scored the win - one that most probably suspected would go to Cage - and elevated himself to a main-event player.

The Mack later went on to help salvage Johnny Mundo's title reign after several dismal matches with Sexy Star.
