10 New Directions For WWE After Survivor Series: WarGames 2023

8. A Cruiserweight Title Return?!

Stick with this thought for a sec.

Dragon Lee has been working some decidedly WCW-esque bouts on SmackDown recently. At Survivor Series, whilst his undercard match vs. Santos Escobar could hardly be considered a spiritual successor to Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero, there was more Cruiser-style action awaiting fans.

It's perhaps far-fetched, but WWE bringing back some Cruiserweight gold isn't an impossibility. This guy is starting to wonder if anything counts as an impossibility after some of the stuff we've seen in 2023. Dragon revisiting the high-flying classics of old, and paying tribute to everyone from Mysterio and Guerrero to Billy Kidman and Dean Malenko, sounds fun.

Yeah, adding another strap to the lower card mix is risky, but it could work. SmackDown isn't exactly blessed with full-time champs on the men's side anyway, so Lee might find his niche and become the workhorse titleholder that blue brand needs heading into 2024.

Food for thought, if nothing else.
