10 New WWE Directions For Shinsuke Nakamura
1. A Farewell For Lesnar
In our heart of hearts, as wrestling fans, I think we all know that Brock Lesnar is going to leave for UFC at some point - but when? Amidst all the details of half-expired suspensions, drug tests, potential dates, and so on, the fact remains that Jon Jones called out Lesnar following his recent victory over Daniel Cormier - and that Brock, Jones, and UFC themselves all stand to make too much money for this fight not to happen.
Whenever Lesnar does leave, who should his last opponent be? Most suspect that WWE are going to have Roman Reigns defeat Brock, thereby securing his difficult ascent to the top of the card. However, this is likely to turn fans even more passionately against Reigns, especially if it happens at WrestleMania 34, resulting in three 'Mania main events in a row with the same man standing tall.
A far more compelling opponent, in my opinion, would be Nakamura. The pair had an underwhelming match during the dark days of New Japan Pro Wrestling, but in 2017 could put on a far better received contest. Shinsuke also makes far more sense as a successor to Lesnar, a shoot-style wrestler with legitimate-looking offence.
This may be a rather optimistic prediction, but it's one that makes far more sense from a storytelling point of view.
