10 Next-Level Tweaks That Took Wrestlers From Lame To Cool As F***

1. Chris Jericho Drops The List And Becomes The Alpha

Over the years, Chris Jericho has consistently found new ways to keep himself relevant within the wrestling sphere.

But perhaps the most important tweak 'Le Champion' made to his overall character came when Jericho decided to shock the world and show up in NJPW in 2017.

Up to that point, 'Y2J' had been enjoying yet another rather hot period in his WWE career, wandering around in a scarf and hilariously adding people to his 'List of Jericho' during his super popular program with Kevin Owens.

In the wake of said feud coming to a rather disappointing end, though, one of Jericho's final appearances on WWE programming told the story of a gimmick that had seemingly ran out of steam.

As the veteran threatened to add AJ Styles' name to his all-important list on the July 25, 2017 edition of SmackDown, the once deafening reactions to that pen click were noticeably quieter.

So, doing what he does best, Jericho opted to tweak his presentation ever so slightly when the time came to pop up in Japan, dropping the once-incredibly-over list gimmick while still boasting the same general look, complete with villainous neck fabric, he had when fans last saw him in WWE.

With this little adjustment, Jericho was able to begin successfully shifting from silly G.O.A.T. to badass 'Alpha' as he clashed with the likes of Kenny Omega and Tetsuya Naito and eventually became a more brutal 'Painmaker'.

And while he would still show up with that clipboard one more time at the start of 2018 during Raw 25, it was clear this revitalised New Japan threat was very much over that now rather lame version of himself by the time he made his final in-ring WWE appearance at The Greatest Royal Rumble event and began viciously battering Naito in New Japan.
