2. He Only Won The World Title Because Edge Got Hurt

Story: Christian started in WWE in 1998, left for three years in the mid 2000s and came back in 2009. He wasn't a WWE Champion or World Champion during that period. He really wasn't close to that level although a lot of fans wanted him to be. It was weird that Christian wasn't even in a match at WrestleMania 27 in 2011. Instead, he was in the corner of his friend Edge, who was the World Champion defending against Alberto Del Rio. Edge was able to retain the World Title that day. Christian celebrated with him. A week after that, Edge announced he had to retire because of his neck injury that has given him problems since the early 2000s. Christian was put in a Ladder Match against Del Rio at the next PPV called Extreme Rules. Christian won the match and the World Title for the first time as Edge walked out to celebrate with him. Some people speculated that the win by Christian only happened because of Edge's injury. Why People Believe It: It was a good sympathy angle. His best friend couldn't compete anymore, so Christian finally was able to get the job done thanks to Edge's support. Should We Believe It: It's true to some degree although there's no real way of knowing for sure. Perhaps they would have feuded later that year and Christian would have won anyway. It's another one of those things that hasn't been talked about much.
