10 NXT Stars Who Desperately Need Main WWE Roster Call-Up

8. Cameron Grimes

If we are being honest, Cameron Grimes should have been called up to the main roster over a year ago.

'The Richest Man In NXT' is one of the last Black and Gold flag-bearers and is one of the only ones that took to the landscape of 2.0. In the last year, Grimes has won the North American Championship from Carmelo Hayes, only to lose it again, went toe to toe with NXT Champion Bron Breakker, and endured a feud with Joe Gacy that still seems to be ongoing. A running theme throughout all of those matches, was the quality of them.

Grimes is technically very gifted in the ring and he has continued to show that during 2.0, but after coming up short for the NXT Title back at Great American Bash, time finally seems to be here to get the guy on either Mondays or Fridays.

The former Trevor Lee had a stellar run in NXT but now is time to convert that to SmackDown, where he can go against the very best. Him and Max Dupri/LA Knight can run it back, he can go against Happy Corbin in a quite literal money match, and after seeing Grimes as an underdog against Bron, he could easily reprise that role against either Gunther or, who knows, possibly Roman Reigns.
