10 Oddest WCW Storylines Of All Time

2. Hulk Hogan And The Dungeon Of Doom

Despite the fact that Hulk Hogan was starting to alienate as many WWE fans than he was appealing to by the end of his run there, WCW leapt at the chance to bring him into their organisation, so he could bring with him some mainstream credibility. His addition to the roster legitimised the company in the eyes of casual viewers and mainstream outlets, but unfortunately it wasn€™t 1986 anymore, and people grew very tired of Hogan€™s shtick with great haste. The battle between Hulk Hogan and the Taskmaster Kevin Sullivan€™s Dungeon of Doom stable is widely considered to be a storyline that isn€™t just odd, but was indicative of all that was wrong with WCW and Hogan in the years prior to the formation of the nWo. After failing to kill Hulkamania with his previous stable, the Three Faces of Fear, Sullivan formed the Dungeon of Doom to have another crack, which in itself is really a lazy beginning to a story. The Dungeon had a prestigious roster consisting of Earthquake John Tenta who was now renamed €˜the Shark€™ and was now clothed in a not so menacing baby blue ensemble with cartoon shark teeth on it; €˜the Zodiac€™ who is more commonly known as Ed Leslie €“ Hogan€™s best friend; and others such as Meng, Vader, Kamala the Ugandan Giant (yes it was as racist as it sounds), and for a while the Giant. It should be noted that at first the Giant was also said to be the son of Andre, much to his chagrin and seething frustration. They would also later feature a mummy inexplicably called €˜the Yeti€™, and a character called €˜Loch Ness€™ (no...really). There is probably too much to write about with this storyline as it went on so long but needless to say high points include the revelation that the Zodiac (Hogan€™s best friend remember) was in actuality a spy for Hogan all along; Hogan going €˜dark€™ and dressing in black for the first time because of the madness the Dungeon had inflicted upon him (only to be back to yellow and red immediately after); and numerous vignettes like the one below that will leave you wondering how on earth those involved could have ever thought that this was a storyline that could ever go over, and be taken seriously by the audience in the arena and at home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pretEZVIXv4 We might think that WWE makes some odd storyline decisions today, but it would be hard to top this awful narrative. Although, in the pantheon of odd storylines, this still wasn€™t the apex€
