After a disastrous main event bout with Goldberg at Super ShowDown 2019, WWE needed to do something to restore The Undertaker's image, and 'The Deadman' himself could have used a little bit of a confidence booster. According to Roman Reigns, those were the main reasons the company paired him with the legend to take on Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules 2019.

And what a match it turned out to be.

The bout WWE dubbed as a "dream match" at Super ShowDown left many fans doubting both men's future performances. Even the biggest of 'Deadman' fans recognized it was possible Father Time finally caught up to their beloved undead mortician-wizard-cult leader-biker-patriot-gunslinger guy. Both he and Goldberg managed to botch many of their signature moves, with a Jackhammer and Tombstone Piledriver that nearly paralyzed both legends just the same.

Heads definitely turned when Reigns and Undertaker tagged up at Extreme Rules, however.

The future Hall of Famer might've been waiting for the hot tag most of the match, but when he stepped foot between the ropes, he laid in his moves, and you'd have thought he somehow gained back five years. While the odd pairing polarized some fans, there was little doubt their styles lined up well, and if WWE ever truly wanted to revitalize its tag division, these might have been just the high-calibre performers needed to do it.
