10 Positives Heading Into WWE Fastlane 2017
3. Akira Tozawa’s Arrival
Heading into Fastlane, another positive within the Cruiserweight division has been the long-awaited arrival of Akira Tozawa. Having seized everyone’s attention during the Cruiserweight Classic, Tozawa then had a few commitments to see to in his homeland before finally debuting on the main roster on the January 31 showing of 205 Live.
Like Gallagher, the diminutive Japanese star brings something unique to the table that most of the bigger guys on the main roster are lacking - namely, his incredible speed, not to mention a beautiful bridging German Suplex and an infectious attitude that lays to waste any lingering worries about the language barrier.
Plus, Tozawa’s arrival has meant that there are now enough numbers - and sufficient audience interest - to pencil in a six-man tag match for the Fastlane pre-show, making this the first PPV since Survivor Series to feature multiple Cruiserweight matches on a single card.
For the excitement he’s brought to TV each week, as well as the depth he's added to the ranks, Tozawa’s arrival has been a welcome one.
