10 Precise WWE Moments Wrestlers Retired Iconic Moves
6. CM Punk - Pepsi Plunge
Last Seen: vs. Austin Aries - Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor III, 2005
Precisely why CM Punk doesn't do the Pepsi Plunge anymore varies depending on who you're speaking to.
For some people it's simple as the fact that it is, in essence, a super-charged Pedigree. Being of no particular sway in WWE at the time he signed, Punk would have been able to put up zero resistance to the company asking him to drop the move given that it, effectively, makes Triple H's finisher feel underwhelming by comparison.
Some people though will tell you that Punk made the decision all by himself. Given the undeniable impact a move like this has on his knees, and the resulting damage and strain it puts on them as a result, Punk made the decision to protect both them and his career by retiring it.
Then there's the school of thought that, while going around the independent scene with a move named the Pepsi Plunge is all well and good, doing it live on national television every week is likely to raise some obvious issues around copyright and trademarks. Rather than rename the spot, he elected to just drop it.
Whatever you believe, it's not been seen on a major stage since he put Austin Aries down with it to win the Ring Of Honor Championship.
