10 Predictions For WWE In 2020
5. Sasha Banks & Charlotte Will Dominate The Divas Division
This past week’s NXT Takeover: Unstoppable Pay-Per-View featured an outstanding women’s match that many observers considered the match of the night. Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch put on an outstanding match that demonstrated that, once again, the women in NXT were outshining the Divas on the main shows.
However, by 2020, these kinds of awesome performances by the female talent will not be exclusive to NXT; it will be a regular part of all WWE programming.
Both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon want to reform the Divas Division and make women’s matches more akin to what takes place on NXT. They have realized that women are capable of being massive draws, as demonstrated by the surge in popularity of Ronda Rousey in UFC and the standing ovation that the women of NXT have been receiving on a regular basis.
Contrary to what Vince McMahon may still believe, women can be just as important on the show as their male counterparts, and can be successful in more roles than being simple eye candy. If Vince’s vision was still accurate, someone like Awesome Kong would never have become arguably the most dominant woman in all of wrestling.
By 2020, the landscape of the Divas’ Division will be very different. WWE will be presenting shows on which the women will be wrestling long, 12 minutes + wrestling matches that are more competitive and tell better stories, and the shows will be much more exciting because of it.
