10 Problems WWE Must Solve In The 2024 Draft
6. Tackling The Backlash Problem
Backlash goes down in France on 4 May. To put that into context, the international PLE happens just five days after the 2024 Draft wraps up on the 29 April edition of Raw. Naturally, this is a bit of a headache for creative, 'cause the card will be pretty much locked in by the time the Draft even occurs.
It's imperative they keep that in mind.
Booking wrestlers to switch shows in the interim could trample all over some matches. That has happened in the past - the Draft has rendered pay-per-views happening smack bang in that awkward in-between phase fairly useless. It's jarring to watch matches/rivalries you know won't matter as soon as the bell sounds to end the match.
Here's an example: Jey Uso will work Damian Priest for the World Title over in France. What if he's drafted back to SmackDown, or Judgment Day bolts to become blue instead? That announcement would outright kill their title match, and make it clear nothing of note was going to happen.
