Surely every tag team must discuss their goals upon joining forces. First and foremost would have to be to dominate the tag team division and become tag team champions. What more is there to want in the tag team division?
That said, the elephant in the room of any tag team however is the question “what are your individual goals?” As much as being a part of a team is fun and can lead to incredible matches and fanfare, most people want to challenge themselves. Becoming tag team champions can only satiate a competitive man for so long.
Most people in the wrestling business want a chance to become WWE Champion, Intercontinental Champion, King of the Ring, Royal Rumble Winner, etc. The fact is that most of the accolades and accomplishments one can earn as a WWE Superstar are individual achievements.
Which is why every tag team needs to discuss their individual desires to achieve said benchmarks in the WWE. If the answer is yes, then both partners are at least aware that their arrangement is finite, and that both have aspirations outside of the pairing.
