10 Questions Vince McMahon Doesn't Want You To Ask About WWE

6. Why Has WWE Only Created One Franchise Star In A Ten Year Period?

One of WWE's biggest problems is their lack of genuine main event talent, with Vince McMahon only really having John Cena in terms of stars who are guaranteed to draw. It has been that way for a decade. Even when guys like CM Punk or Daniel Bryan broke through, it wasn't like they were really mainstream names or guaranteed draws. They were big names to wrestling fans, but John Cena is a big name with wider cultural relevance. As such, he brings in a lot of money. A lot of mainstream money. More stars of that calibre should be what Vince McMahon works towards creating. Although that may be easier said than done... For ten years, Cena has been all on his own. Punk got close at one point, while Batista and Randy Orton were near an equal level during Cena's early run. But really, in terms of a franchise star carrying the company, WWE have been heavily reliant on Cena for a decade. That's longer than Austin or even Hogan were on top. It is a damning question for Vince to answer. Just why hasn't he created another franchise star in the last ten years? Think back to the late nineties, when he was producing guys like Austin, Rock, Triple H and Foley. Even in Hogan's era, McMahon had Andre, Savage and Warrior who enjoyed franchise status at points. Why, for the past decade, has the star-making process faltered so severely? Why is John Cena the only real star in pro wrestling?
