10 Reasons The Kane That Debuted In 1997 Is Way Cooler Than Today's
7. The Opposition
It has been pointed out by many of today's wrestling critics that the current crop of Superstars does not hold a candle to those from the Attitude Era. Arguing which era was/is better is not the purpose of this piece and will, instead, be saved for those far more interested in writing it. But there is some validity to that statement. In 1997 and, more notably in 1998, Kane would regularly do battle with the likes of Undertaker, Mankind, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and The Rock. He was a cornerstone for the Attitude Era and mixed it up with any number of future Hall of Famers. He will one day join them in receiving that honor and it will be due, in large part, to the work he did with them. Today's Kane has been part of better matches than he ever was earlier in his career but the competition simply does not live up to those industry icons he competed against nearly two decades ago. John Cena, Big Show, Randy Orton and CM Punk are assuredly Hall of Fame talents but they simply do not live up to the standard set by the all-time greats mentioned above.
