10 Reasons The Kane That Debuted In 1997 Is Way Cooler Than Today's
6. The Lack Of Comedy
The original Kane character was meant to be a brother seeking revenge for the death of his mother, He had one goal in mind and that was destroying the brother he held accountable. He was dangerous, violent, unpredictable and without prejudice. Kane was a monster in every sense of the word and that is why audiences gravitated to him. Today's Kane has been so watered down by character changes and, more importantly, a comedic background that has severely hurt the effect he has on the audience when he does revert back to his old ways. Fans have become desensitized to the Devil's Favorite Demon thanks to every backstage skit with Hulk Hogan and The Rock, every therapy session with Dr. Shelby and every hug with partner Daniel Bryan. Sure, those segments were hilarious and highly entertaining. They were very well done and generated a great deal of buzz. But in the long run, it adversely affected the audience's ability to take the Kane character seriously when it came time to do so. No brutal beatdown, over-the-top horror flick segment in which Kane "scarily" stalks after a Bella Twin can restore that initial power the Kane character had over the audience.
