10 Reasons Randy Orton Is "Mr. Survivor Series"
3. Survivor Series 2011
The night after Survivor Series 2010, Randy Orton lost the WWE title to The Miz, who cashed in his Money in the Bank contract. Needless to say, between that and the previous night's overshadowing by John Cena, it wasn't exactly a great time for the 'Viper'.
Orton had to wait a year to return to Survivor Series glory, captaining a team of faces against Barrett's heel team. While Orton did end up on the losing stick in this match, it still highlighted his Survivor Series greatness, with Michael Cole even mentioning before the match that Orton was "the greatest performer in Survivor Series tag match history."
Despite being yet another somewhat arbitrary assembly of heels and faces, the match still managed to get over with the Madison Square Garden crowd. Orton was in top form, dispatching of Dolph Ziggler and Hunico in spectacular fashion. The match momentarily stopped dead in its tracks due to a nasty (original) Sin Cara botch which incapacitated him, but the others in the match were able to save face.
Randy would suffer his third defeat in Survivor Series tag matches thanks to Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett, but this outing ultimately showed that Randy still had what it took at this PPV.
