10 Reasons Re-watching WrestleMania XXX Is A Recipe For Depression

7. The Authority Was Still Bearable

Once upon a time, the concept of an abusive authority figure in WWE was not something that made nine out of ten fans groan. And make no mistake, WWE had given people plenty of reason to groan over the years with Raw general managers from here to Greenland. Still, it was a tolerated plot device.

In fact, when the Yes movement got going, it was made possible, and enhanced (in retrospect) by the insufferable sabotage of HHH and Steph every step of the way. They had the second most successful €œfan favourite vs. boss€ angle on their hands.

The Authority crystallized as onscreen players right at fan dissent swelled, and so they got good heat, unlike the actual backstage shot-calling which was driving fans legitimately insane. They were at their most €œwelcome€ at Mania XXX.

Since then, it€™s safe to say that they€™ve outstayed that welcome. Statistically there have now been more Raws opened by an Authority segment than basketball games started with a jumpball (citation needed.) Even worse, their primary raison-d€™être at the moment is to play nemesis to Roman Reigns€™ microwaved mash-up of Cena and Bryan.

This is, of course, endearing neither party with the consumer.
