10 Reasons SummerSlam Will Be WWE's Best Show Of 2016

8. A Stacked Undercard

Recent WWE PPVs have been filled-out with arbitrary midcard matches with very little build or logic behind them. Battleground’s United States and Intercontinental Title matches were particularly bland and uninspiring, and while those championships’ respective stories haven’t been perfect, they’ve both been relatively well put together.

Apollo Crews has a reason to challenge The Miz, and likewise for Roman Reigns and Rusev. In fact, there’s a reason for every single match on the card, from Cesaro vs. Sheamus to Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton, and when was the last time we were able to say that?

Not only that, but each and every match features at least one dynamic, exciting in-ring performer who stands among the company’s best. The SmackDown women’s handicap match is a little thin, sure, but Becky Lynch and Natalya are in there, and they’re two of WWE’s most accomplished workers regardless of gender. The undercard is littered with the likes of Cesaro and Kevin Owens who, on their day, are as good as anyone on the planet. While the quality of SummerSlam’s big matches is obvious, it’s undercard is seriously stacked.

These early matches can provide a perfect foundation for the rest of the show to build-on. Get SummerSlam off to a good start, and the momentum will snowball.
