4. The "Part-Time Champion" Mystery Is Intriguing
Everyone knows that Lesnar is a part-time performer. In kayfabe, he only shows up every now and then, and his "advocate", Paul Heyman, does the talking and decision-making for him when he isn't around. Out of kayfabe, he only has a certain number of dates he's scheduled to perform a year, so the company has to be very careful with how often they use him. They can't just have him appear on several consecutive shows with nothing to do, because then they won't be able to use him again for a long period of time. That contract is what has everyone buzzing right now. If he wins the title, surely he can't make too many appearances on television after SummerSlam, can he? Unless he's going to turn around and drop the title at the next pay-per-view, Night Of Champions, that would be unlikely. The more likely scenario would have the WWE World Champion not making many appearances on television, and, in what would cause the most controversy, pay-per-views. Think about a WWE pay-per-view not featuring a match for the WWE Title. Now, think of multiple pay-per-views in a row without a match for the WWE Title. People have speculated that Brock, win or lose, wouldn't wrestle again until at least the Royal Rumble. That would mean Night Of Champions, Hell In A Cell, Survivor Series, and TLC would all feature zero matches for the WWE World Title. WWE has never gone four straight pay-per-views without having a World Title match, although, back when there weren't as many pay-per-view events on the calendar, the company went over a full year, March 27th, 1988 to April 2nd, 1989, without a WWF Title match (WrestleMania 4 to WrestleMania 5, with three pay per-views in between). It's that "we've never seen this before" aspect that makes Lesnar as WWE World Champion intriguing, because there are so many directions the writers could take it. WWE only uses the "champions must defend their title once every 30 days" stipulation in storylines when it suits them, so we wouldn't have to worry about that being mentioned. It would merely be people trying to coax Paul Heyman into having Lesnar return and defend his title for a while. If we're getting a rumored match from Lesnar at Night Of Champions, as was once previously discussed, you have to think it would make sense to have another Lesnar VS Cena match if Brock wins the title at SummerSlam. Speaking of that...
