10 Reasons WWE's Brand Split Doesn’t Need Saving
4. They’ve Found A Spot For Roman Reigns

I'd like to to make myself clear on this, because I’m often being
lambasted for “hating” on the guy: I'm a fan of Roman Reigns. Which means that
obviously I want to see him succeed.
In his pre-Draft spot in the main event though, that just wasn’t going to happen. Even though he wasn’t necessarily being pushed to the moon anymore, crowds were still booing him out of the building. The hardcore fans have pretty much conditioned themselves to boo him anytime he gets near the title, even if he’s actually done a good job.
So the best solution was to keep him away from that spot for a while, and that’s exactly what they did in the immediate aftermath of the Brand Split. Feuding with Rusev, away from the spotlight, Reigns seemed far more at ease, and was more calm, cool and confident in his promos; a vast improvement on his “suffern’ succotash” work of old.
Admittedly he's briefly flirted with a return to the world title picture in light of Balor’s injury, but he can easily go back to that Rusev feud given the way their match at SummerSlam ended. Or rather, didn’t even begin in the first place...
If he grafts away in that United States Championship scene, his ascent to the
main event will come far more naturally, and he’ll be able to transition into
the top-tier star that by now we all know he’s capable of becoming.
