With the aid of retrospect, you could say that Chris Benoit would be alive today if WWE had more stringent measures in place for concussions and brain scans in the early 2000's. Maybe Daniel Bryan would have ended up in the same condition if he had been allowed to carry on in wrestling. Then again, maybe he could have wrestled another five years and ended up absolutely fine. There's no way of knowing for sure. But certainly there's the possibility that WWE saved Daniel Bryan's life by forcing retirement upon him. They were right to pressure him into this situation over the last six months. Reasons don't come much bigger than "retirement could save your life." At the very least, his quality of life will almost certainly be better now that he's not wrestling. That's got to be a good thing. He loved wrestling, but there's no doubt that it was an increasingly self destructive passion.
