10 Reasons WWE Were Right To Retire Daniel Bryan

4. Bryan Had Peaked As An In-Ring Performer

Even the biggest Daniel Bryan fan will admit that he had peaked as an in-ring performer. It was never going to get any better than WrestleMania 30 in terms of the artistry he could create as a worker. That was perfection right there, and it would never get that good again. And in general, when you saw him in his final run with the company, you could see that he wasn't the same guy. The neck injury had taken its toll on him, and there was that little bit more trepidation about watching him perform. You couldn't help but feel he was always one bad bump away from a disaster. He'd put his body on the line for over a decade, and there's simply no way to come out of that as the same performer. Still, he kept on doing some risky moves, and there was the sensational match with Roman Reigns at Fastlane 2015. But on the whole, you could see he wasn't the level of performer he had been. His last ever match was a tag effort, in which he barely even got in the ring. That's when it is time to step away, and WWE helped him along with that decision. If he had stayed wrestling, it would've been such a watered down style that it would've barely had any resemblance to the Bryan matches that will now live forever in the memory.
