10 Reasons WWE Will Bring WrestleMania To The UK Soon
5. The Success Stories
After the success of the 2012 Olympics and 2015 Rugby World Cup, the search is on for the next global event the UK will stage. Wrestlemania would not boost the economy in the same way the Olympic games did (estimated £9.9 Billion) but the $170.4 million reported by Dallas after WrestleMania 32 is more than enough to spark serious UK interest.
The NFL now regularly bring games to British shores and the WWE will have noted the success of this venture. The British public love a sporting spectacle, whether it is Boxing, UFC, Football (Soccer) or Tennis - grand finals never have a problem with selling tickets - and neither do WWE events. UK exclusive PPV's in the 2000's (Insurrextion and Rebellion) would sell out in a matter of minutes. NXT Takeover London (and appearances at the Download Music Festival) could have been WWE testing the water again, if so the resounding success of that tour will have given them food for thought.
It could be argued the popularity of wrestling in Japan and the history they have of large scale NJPW Events (Wrestle Kingdom) means they have an even better infrastructure for hosting a Wrestlemania. But one would expect the language barrier and high volume of shared UK/USA tourism would tip the scales in British favour, at least in the first instance.
