Despite not appearing on AEW programming since September 4, it's still felt as though not a week has gone by without CM Punk finding a way to steal the headlines in the wake of his part in the shocking Brawl Out madness.

And while he wasn't necessarily directly involved in the Dynamite action on the night of November 2, that didn't change the fact that The Best in the World was the name on every fans' lips the moment Colt Cabana popped up to face ROH World Champion Chris Jericho.

With rumours suggesting that Punk's turbulent relationship with Cabana could've been responsible for the latter not appearing on AEW television for an extended period throughout 2022, the sight of the All Elite coach suddenly returning opposite Le Champion in Punk's absence post-injury/suspension felt pretty significant.

And though Tony Khan would reiterate later down the road that Punk "never asked" for Cabana to be off TV, the issues between AEW and their former World Champion were said to have only got worse in the wake of Colt's appearance, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.
