Speaking of embarrassing, John Cena and Batista were left red-faced towards the end of the 2005 Royal Rumble bout. Earlier, the Muhammad Hussan character had been humbled and eliminated, but that was nothing compared to the error made by these top names.

Supposed to win outright, Batista had to settle for being declared the victor following a restart. At precisely the same time, Cena and 'The Animal' tumbled over the top rope to the floor. Unable to determine a clear winner, the referees around ringside waited for instructions to come from backstage over their headsets.

Moments later, a furious Vince McMahon power walked to the ring, smashed his knee against the apron upon entering and promptly tore quadriceps muscles in his leg. Comically sitting on the canvas amidst the chaos, McMahon must have been incensed that this was how one of his biggest pay-per-views might end.

Finally, Vince ordered a restart and order was restored with that sought-after Batista triumph. Reportedly, the double elimination wasn't supposed to happen at all, meaning Cena and Batista had blown the match finish completely.
