10 Shocking Controversies In Alberto Del Rio's WWE Career

8. Ego

Maybe it was because he came from huge fame in Mexico, maybe it was just his personality. Whatever the reason, Alberto Del Rio certainly had somewhat of an ego. He saw himself as being bigger than everyone else. He felt he was on a level above WWE's usual signings. Take a look at how WWE recently signed accomplished international star Kenta. They sent him to developmental, despite him being widely regarded as one of the best wrestlers in the world. Did Kenta complain? No. He had the right attitude, he was happy to pay his dues. Del Rio was the exact opposite. When he first signed with WWE, he informed the Mexican media that he'd be going straight to the main roster. He claimed that he wouldn't have to go to WWE's FCW developmental territory. He was wrong. WWE sent Del Rio to FCW and made the star take his lumps just like anybody else. Del Rio didn't like this and later admitted to Mexican media that he "hated" his time in FCW. At one point, he claims to have nearly quit, but then he ended up getting called up to WWE shortly afterwards. He did however go on to say that he learned a lot in the end, ultimately proving that WWE's decision to prep stars in developmental is a worthwhile cause.
