1. Less Than One Day - Andre The Giant, Daniel Bryan, Yokozuna, Randy Orton, Triple H, John Cena And Rey Mysterio
But the absolute shortest of title reigns didnt even make it to 24 hours. At number one on this list, we have seven superstars who failed to even celebrate a day with the strap around their waist. The first man to achieve this feat was André the Giant, after he immediately sold the belt to the "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase following his 1988 victory over Hulk Hogan. Five years later, Yokozuna bit off more than he could chew straight after his victorious WrestleMania IX bout with Bret Hart; he offered Hogan a shot at his newly won belt but was promptly defeated in 22 seconds. Other stars to lose the title within a few hours include Randy Orton, Triple H, John Cena and Rey Mysterio. Ortons reign came at No Mercy 2007, when Vince McMahon awared him the vacant strap. However Triple H went on to beat Orton moments later, only for Orton to recapture the gold once more at the end of the night. Are you keeping up? Cena and Mysterio meanwhile tasted defeat after being forced into double duty. Cena fell to Batista after winning a grueling Elimination Chamber match in 2010, while Mysterio was beaten by John Cena just hours after defeating the Miz for his first and only WWE title reign. The most recent inductee into the sub-one-day-club though is of course Daniel Bryan. He fell victim to the opportunistic Money in the Bank cash-in of Orton, after Triple H had turned on the current champ following his classic encounter with Cena. Luckily, each of these seven men have had separate world titles reigns of some sort. And furthermore, given the outstanding talent of caliber here, its arguably not such an embarrassing record to hold.
Conclusion
There are certainly some intriguing points to come from this list. The unfortunate Daniel Bryan managed to clock in at number one and two on this list with his one-day and sub-one-day title reigns. John Cena, meanwhile, has featured in four of the shortest WWE World Heavyweight Championship reigns of all time. However as discussed in the previous slide, many of these short-lived champions have gone on to achieve huge success at other times in their careers. Thus, this list is not necessarily a reflection of the ten least dominant WWE Champions in historyfar from it in fact. I suppose it offers another example of how everything is not necessarily as it seems in the world of professional wrestling, and that sometimes the worst champions are in fact that the best. But what do you make of the list? Were there any entrees that shocked you? Or perhaps you think Ive missed out on one or two reigns? Please feel free to comment below with your thoughts on the list, as well as any of the points that were discussed in the article itself.
