Back in 2014, heads were certainly turned when CM Punk announced that he would be diving head first into the world of Mixed Martial Arts, so soon after leaving WWE behind.

Punk had often utilised MMA techniques in his wrestling arsenal (such as head kicks and various submission holds) but he didn't exactly scream out 'high class legitimate combat star'.

Nevertheless, Punk signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC and got to work training with Duke Roufus at the Roufusport MMA Academy.

One year after he began training with Roufus, Punk finally had his first opponent announced in the form of Mickey Gall. However, numerous training injuries meant that Punk ended up spending almost two years in the gym before he ever step foot in the Octagon.

When he finally hopped on the scales before his UFC 203 Welterweight contest with Gall, fans all around the world were left stunned at just how toned Punk had become. Getting in peak physical condition for his MMA debut, Punk looked like a completely different human being to the one who was once labelled as 'skinny-fat' by Triple H in WWE.

Unfortunately, not even getting unbelievably ripped could save Punk from being destroyed in the cage in both of his MMA bouts to date.
