Your new WWE Champion Drew McIntyre wasn't always the hulking Scottish poster boy that we see before us today.

During his first run in the company, 'The Chosen One' was still finding his feet as a performer and perhaps didn't put as much effort as he should have into making sure he had the frame of a main event calibre star.

It took McIntyre being released from WWE in 2014 for the penny to finally drop.

McIntyre (shifting back to Drew Galloway) spent the next three years rebuilding himself both as an in-ring performer and a physical specimen. As each year rolled by, Galloway became even bigger and more confident in his new pumped up physique, which led to an endless supply of top class matches in ICW, Evolve, WCPW and Impact Wrestling.

Finally, WWE came calling once again and Drew McIntyre 2.0 was unleashed upon NXT in 2017, before he made the jump back up to the main roster in 2018. It took him a year or two to find his place in this new WWE landscape, but McIntyre is now reaping the rewards from all those hours spent improving his body in the gym when he was on the outside of the giant company looking in.
