10 Stars WWE Doesn't Want You To Love

1. Daniel Bryan

While WWE does their best to make sure that the "wrong" wrestlers don't get over, sometimes the fans are just too powerful to ignore. In 2013, Daniel Bryan was so popular that he was pushed into the main event of SummerSlam and given a WWE Championship win over John Cena. He was immediately defeated for the title by Randy Orton, and when Bryan came up short in their subsequent feud, that was intended to be the end of his days as a main eventer. Instead, fans refused to give up on Bryan. Batista returned in January of 2014 and won the Royal Rumble, but fan reaction forced the company to turn him heel and insert Bryan into the main event. At WrestleMania XXX, Bryan won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and gave his fans the moment they demanded. Unfortunately, an injury soon forced Bryan to vacate the title, and he was out for the remainder of 2014. Still, he was never a long-term top guy in the company's eyes, so it was okay - plans to make Roman Reigns the next John Cena could proceed. Bryan was cleared to return in January of 2015, and inexplicably, the company put him in the Royal Rumble match even though he wasn't scheduled to win it. For the second straight year, the event ended with fans booing the babyface who had dominated the competition. WWE then panicked, quickly booking a Reigns-Bryan feud over the number one contendership slot. During the program, which Reigns won, the former WWE Champion was portrayed as not being on the Royal Rumble winner's level before ultimately endorsing him (and all but begging the fans to do the same). Bryan is injured again, and his future is uncertain again. As a popular star who sells a lot of merchandise, WWE should hope he returns - however, if he does, the company's brass will undoubtedly be keeping their fingers crossed that he doesn't get too popular... after all, it's screwed up a lot of plans in the past.
