10 Sting WWE Matches You'll Never Get To See

6. Daniel Bryan

Hold on, let me just wipe away my tears from the keyboard. Daniel Bryan recently announced his retirement from professional wrestling, and with him went a whole host of dream matches. You could put any name in the last part of 'Daniel Bryan vs. _____' and it would be worth watching; that's just how good Bryan was. Sting is a name who would fit that gap with aplomb. Sting could put on absolute barnstormers with the right opponent, and in all of professional wrestling nobody fits the description 'right opponent' more than Daniel Bryan. Sting's match against Seth Rollins was surprisingly good, and it is an easy assumption that a bout with Bryan would be better. The story for the match would write itself too: two historically beloved superstars going up against each in a battle of respect and pride. The match would follow a predictable yet thrilling structure, with the opening moments all about feeling each other out and showing the necessary respect. At some point the veteran would use his experience to get the upper hand, opening Bryan's eyes to the fact he was in a serious battle. One fiery comeback later, a running knee to a face no longer covered in facepaint, a 1-2-3 and a hug in the centre of the ring. It won't happen now, it can't happen, but it would have been wonderful if it had.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
